Dear Graham Families,
Mark your calendars for Sunday Oct. 21st to meet Graham staff and families at mile 11.3 of the Healthy Driven Half Marathon. It is at S. West St. and Emerald Dr. We will meet at 7 am to cheer on the runners from Graham School. They are working with our Indian Prairie Education Foundation (IPEF) to raise money for our schools. The school demonstrating the most spirit will be awarded a monetary prize for their school. We would like to begin raising funds to build an outdoor classroom. Winning one of the prizes will be a great start! Tell your friends and neighbors and watch for more information on exact location to follow.
Each year, Graham School acknowledges and celebrates our brave service men and women during a Veteran’s Day assembly. This year the assembly will be November 13th at 9:30AM. We are asking everyone who would like to participate to send in a picture of a family member in uniform who has served or is serving in the military. We will include the picture in a display in the front hallway titled “Wall of Heroes”. Each year the Wall is quite beautiful and moving. Please be on the look onut for more information.
Our next PTA Meeting will be October 11th, at 6:00PM. There will be a presentation provided by Dagmar Kauffman, founder of On Balance, Your Connection for Inspired Parenting.
On Friday, October 26th, we will be having a Fall Harvest Celebration. From 2:15 – 3:30 PM, the students will participate in a classroom celebration, which will include a craft and/or a game.
As we want to ensure the safety of all students during this celebration and maintain an environment conducive to learning the day of the celebration, we are asking that students follow the rules below:
Students are not to wear costumes to school at the beginning of the day (including make-up and hair dye)â€” time will be provided by teachers for students to change into their costume. Costumes MUST be able to be put on in the classroom setting and your child should need minimal assistance to put it on.
Parents should assist their child/ren in making appropriate decisions about what students wear for costumes, ensuring that costumes are school appropriate and meet all of the District 204 Dress Code Guidelines.
Please keep play weapons and masks at home. Sharp objects (i.e. wooden swords) may NOT be part of any costume. We want to ensure all students’ safety.
Volunteers helping with room parties will be able to come into the building at 1:45 and must be on the list of volunteers for the Harvest Party. Please plan on entering the building at Door #2 and checking in at the volunteer table to receive your pre-printed ID badge. If you have not had the opportunity to have your Driver’s License scanned by the Raptor System, please plan on coming in during the next few weeks, so that we can run your ID through the system.
To provide for student safety, this year the parade will be indoors. We will not be able to accommodate visitors during the parade due to space and security concerns. Thank you for your understanding of this change based upon the need for putting our students’ safety first.
After school pick-up procedures will be the same as all other days.
Students not attending room parties and events on the basis of religious beliefs or family choice will be provided an alternate activity at school. Please contact your child’s teacher if your child is not participating in the classroom celebration.

Reminders and Requests:
When calling in your child’s attendance or late arrival, please call the absent line 630-428-6900, option 3.
Please remember to use the grade level shelf in the foyer when dropping off a forgotten item or bringing in lunch. Additionally please include your child’s name and classroom teacher on a sticky note, if the child’s name is not clearly visible on the item.
There are already items in the Lost and Found collection that are looking for ‘home’. If your child is missing an item, please feel free to come and look through the items.
Please remember there is no school on Monday, October 8th.
