PTA Newsletter - 8/26/19

Reported by michelle_shiles@ipsd.org on 8/26/19

Hello all!

It was wonderful to see so many families
at Curriculum night last week! Below please find some additional information about upcoming opportunities and events...

Volunteer Opportunities:

Looking to help in your child’s class?
Here are three great ways to get involved:

1.
Classroom parent:
Each class needs 2 parents to work together to support the classroom. You will attend, plan and organize our seasonal celebrations: Autumn, Winter, and Valentine’s Day. You work as a team with all of the room parents in the grade and the PTA will provide
a budget as well as volunteers to help you on the day of the party. Additionally, you will collect money for the gift for your child’s teacher in December and May. This is a fun way to be a part of your child’s class. Training and ideas are provided. These
spots will fill quickly so if you are interested, please sign up today. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A044AABAA2B0-classroom1

2.
Junior Achievement:
All classes will be participating in our JA programming this year. The materials are all provided with instructions. This is an opportunity to teach short lessons in your child’s class to help prepare our students to succeed in a global economy. Focus is
on economic and financial literacy. You will work with your child’s teacher to choose the days and times that you present (45 minutes, 5-6 times over the school year). Training and materials are provided.

3.
Art Awareness:
The Art Awareness program is a great way to spend time in your child’s classroom once a month helping to create a long lasting appreciation for the arts. Do you think you’re not artistic? No worries, you’ll still have so much fun! Each grade has a predetermined
work of art, guided questions/ information to present and suggestions of activities, crafts, games or projects to extend the experience. This program operates best when we are able to get 4 or more parents per classroom. The timing and scheduling of your participation
is highly flexible, but a volunteer will typically spend 30 minutes in the classroom during a volunteer session and you can determine how many times you during the year you would like to volunteer with a maximum of 8 times. Please consider signing up using
