Dear Graham Families,

Thank you to the PTA and their volunteers for the wonderful winter parties! Your effort and time are appreciated by all. It was easy to see how much the students enjoyed the celebrations.

Attention Incoming 6th Grade Parents

Crone will host an information night for the parents of incoming 6th graders to Crone, for the 2020-2021 school year. Scheduling choices for electives will be the topic. The intended audience is for parents new to the elective program at the middle school level.

This event will happen on Thursday, January 16, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Crone Cafeteria.

Yearbook Cover Contest

Calling all artists! The 2019-2020 Graham Yearbook needs a cover. Students of all grade levels are encouraged to enter. The winning artwork will appear as the front cover and runners-up will be on the back cover.

The contest rules are as follows:

Submit an original piece of student artwork, one entry per student.
Use a piece of white copier/printer paper (8.5” by 11”).
Make your drawing a vertical orientation, not landscape.
Use markers or crayons. Colored pencils do not reproduce well.
Do not make a cut and paste collage or use textured paper.
Important: Write your name, grade and teacher’s name in pencil on the back of your artwork.
Graham Elementary and 2019-2020 must appear on the page. This will be the yearbook title.
The deadline for entries is Friday, January 24, 2020.

Exciting News

This year we are able once again to offer the Girls on the Run After School Club. Please be on the look out for information and registration after Winter Break.

Health Office Request

The Health Office needs elastic waist pants for both boys and girls. Gently used garments that your children have outgrown would be greatly appreciated. If your child used a change of clothes during the school day, we kindly ask that you wash them so they are ready for use for the next student who may need to borrow them.

Winter reminders for Graham students and their families.

Please remember that students do go outside during recess. We monitor the weather and the temperature and do not send students outside if it is raining or if the wind chill is below 5° Fahrenheit. (This temperature reading includes the wind chill factor.)

Please make sure that your students are properly attired with a hat, gloves, and appropriate weight coat.
Students must have boots and snow pants if they want to play on the field and playground when there is snow on the ground. Children without boots and snow pants must remain on the blacktop when there is snow on the field and the playground.
During the cold weather months, traffic in the parent pick-up zone increases. Please review the traffic procedures in the Car Pick-up Line and be sure to follow the directions of staff in the Car Pick-Up line.

Reminders and Requests:

School resumes on Tuesday, January 7th. Please remember the office will not be open December 23rd – January 3rd.
When calling in your child’s attendance or late arrival, please call the 24 hour absent line 630-428-6900, option 3.
Please remember to include your child’s name and classroom teacher on a sticky note, when dropping off a forgotten item or bringing in lunch.
There are already items in the Lost and Found collection that are looking for ‘home’. If your child is missing an item, please feel free to come and look through the items.
I would like to wish you all a safe and joyous holiday season with family and friends.

Sincerely,

Ms. Walton
