Dear Graham Families,

We enjoyed seeing all the families at our annual Open House last night. Open House is a great way for families to see what their child is doing at school or preschool and a great way for children to show off their building and their hard work. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend.

Thank you to Mr. Cooper for another great Jump Rope for Heart Event! We appreciate all the support from Ms. Fisher, Mrs. Amato and our wonderful volunteers. It couldn't be done without you!

Graham School will be conducting Second Semester Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, February 27th from 1:00pm-8:00pm.

Traditionally, this second conference session is not scheduled for every student, but for selected students. If your child’s teacher is requesting a Second Semester Conference, you will receive a sign-up request letter Monday, February 10th. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher.

Valentine Parties

PTA Valentine Celebrations will be on Friday, February 14th from 2:15 to 3:15PM. Room parents at each grade level have been working collaboratively to plan activities for the students during the celebration, which will include crafts and games. If students choose, they may bring valentines as long as there is one for all students in the class. Please be aware valentines may be passed out previous to the celebration, depending upon the room parents’ and teachers’ plans. Additionally, please remember that valentines with food items attached will not be distributed due to student food allergies.

Parent/teacher conferences are February 27 from 1:00-8:00 pm. Conferences are on an as-needed basis. Information from your child’s teacher will be coming soon.

Raptor Entry Procedures

As you may know Indian Prairie School District uses a security check in program called the Raptor System. This device uses the driver’s license of visitors to our building to screen them before they can enter the building. Many of our frequent visitors and volunteers are in the system, so we have asked for drivers licenses only from individuals who are visiting for the first time. Next week we will begin asking to see everyone’s driver’s license again. We along with all the schools in our school district will be receiving an upgrade to our Raptor System in the next few weeks. Please bring your license with you anytime you are volunteering or visiting the building.

Winter reminders for Graham students and their families

Please remember that students do go outside during recess. We monitor the weather and the temperature and do not send students outside if it is raining or if the wind chill is below 5° Fahrenheit. (This temperature reading includes the wind chill factor.)

Please make sure that your students are properly attired with a hat, gloves, and appropriate weight coat.
Students must have boots and snow pants if they want to play on the field and playground when there is snow on the ground. Children without boots and snow pants must remain on the blacktop when there is snow on the field and the playground.
During the cold weather months, traffic in the parent pick-up zone increases. Please review the traffic procedures in the Car Pick-up Line and be sure to follow the directions of staff in the Car Pick-Up line. During the winter months, arrival and dismissal are very busy. Please remember to pull all the way forward in the car line. Pulling forward allows us to get a larger number of cars unloaded in the morning or loaded in the afternoon. Staff report to the Car Rider line at 8:50 each morning and after students are dismissed in the afternoon at 3:35.

Reminders and Requests:

February 17th, February 27th and February 28th are non-attendance days for students PreK – 12th Grades
When calling in your child’s attendance or late arrival, please call the 24 hour absent line 630-428-6900, option 3.
Please remember to include your child’s name and classroom teacher on a sticky note, when dropping off a forgotten item or bringing in lunch.
There are already items in the Lost and Found collection that are looking for their owners. If your child is missing an item, please feel free to come and look through the items.
If you have any questions or concerns, please free to contact me at your convenience. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Ms. Walton
