Hello all!

***Important Volunteer Information***
We wanted to let parents know due to new district rules that all volunteers at Graham (or any district school) are required to be vaccinated. Next time any volunteer goes up to Graham please bring your vaccination card. The school will make a record of it and have you fill out a form. Once this is on file you will be set for the year. We do ask that anyone volunteering for the first time at a classroom party to please come up before the party to get this taken care of. By doing this the office will not be overwhelmed on a class party day.

PTA Meeting:
There will be a PTA Meeting on Thursday, October 14th at 9:30 am via zoom. We have attached the agenda to this email. Hope you can join us! Log in information shared in emailed newsletter.



Staley Da Bear Assembly Wear Your Bears Apparel!:
Due to the students meeting their Falcon Fundraising goal we are having the Chicago Bear’s mascot, Staley, in this Thursday October 14th for an outdoor afternoon assembly. We will also be having a schoolwide Bear’s dress up day that day so Staley feels welcome. Please have your child in all their Bear’s apparel for the assembly, we are excited to celebrate their achievement!

Little Red Donut Truck Food Night Friday:

The Little Red Donut Truck will be at High Meadow Field (next to Graham) on October 15th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Plan on stopping by to grab some yummy apple cider donuts and let kids play in the field! Boo Bags will also be available to pick up during this time. If you cannot pick them up on that date, the bags will be sent home with your child on Monday October 18th.

The National PTA Reflections wants to know how you will change the world! The theme this year is “I will change the world by…” Students can submit completed works of art in the following categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts.

Also this year as a special incentive all participants will receive a coupon for TCBY. In addition, all participants that advance to district level will receive a waived studio fee at Color Me Mine next time they go in and National PTA will give each student advancing to district level a Color Me Mine gift card.

Entries due October 20th.

Red Ribbon Week:
Details coming home soon in backpack mail for our upcoming annual Red Ribbon Week school activities on October 25 - 29th. Grade specific activities will focus on making healthy choices and respecting yourself and others while starting the conversation for a healthy future.

Harvest Party:
We will be celebrating the fall season with our Graham students on Friday October 29th. Room parents are busy preparing for a fun outdoor event filled with games and crafts. We sent out the link for volunteer help last week, thank you to all who signed up to help. We will be using the link to provide updates for open spots as we finalize details as well.

As stated in News From the Nest your child will be packing their costume to put on at school before the party. We will be holding our costume parade at the beginning of the party at 2PM so it does not impede pickup at the end of the day. Due to the outside parade parents are allowed to come and watch the parade only. The parade will be taking place around the circle drive in front of the school so please park on side streets or walk up to school. We encourage parents to watch from a safe distance. Once the parade is done we ask parents to leave.

Community Service Projects co-chair help:
This year due to Covid restrictions our traditional community service project Blessings in a Backpack will not be happening. We are excited to try something new and have a lot of different ideas to get the kids involved in the community and give back. We are considering grouping the service projects by K-1, 2-3, and 4-5 grade levels but that would mean 3 separate service projects. Due to this we are looking for a Co-chair to help Divya Mehta, our current chair, and would love to get a committee of volunteers that would be willing to help as well.
